.Layering Baubles.

It's no secret that layering is THE thing to be doing right now.
Whether it's your clothing or your jewels, you just NEED to be doing it.
It's on trend, and you get to show off some of your favorite pieces all together. It also works for everyone {any body type!!!} and you can really showcase your creativeness with it.
Like some of my baubles here. I threw on a few of my daily fav's all together and because they played in the same family of gold's, I think it worked rather nicely. So here my friends is how I layered on my way to work today.
yes, i am aware that i spelled "Monaco" wrong, little mistake!
Necklaces: one, two {similar} / Bracelets: one, two, three
Sweater: Joe Fresh / Skirt: Club Monaco / Bag: Matt N Nat {similar}

.Invited.

The official ballots are out for the 2012 Oscars! And I couldn't be more excited!!
Not for the actual show really {although i do enjoy watching them} but for my upcoming Oscar Party!!
See, last year I had decided that I wanted to throw an Oscar party but it was a little too late. I started the process with a week to the show airing and just gave up on the idea. I wanted to do it right. I wanted to actually mail out invitations, have the proper decorations, create the perfect themed appetizers, and just put that 'Erinn' spin on it.
So here's the first of many crafts formed around this festive night.
You're Invited......
.here's what i did & what you'll need.
black paper {small piece, just for base of statue}
white paper
card stock with a pattern on it {I went with gold polka dots}
gold paper {go with glitter!}
statue cutout {i included a version at the bottom}
scissors
glue
.directions.
one] i typed up what i wanted on my invite and printed it out on white cardstock.
two] then i cut each printed card out along the lines and pasted onto the polka dot cardstock {in the middle, leaving 1" on all sides}. Cut the polka card out.
three] i now traced a mini oscar shape onto the back of the gold glitter paper and cut out the cute little statue. repeat this for how many mini statues you need.
four] i was lucky and the glitter paper i choose had an adhesive backing to it, so i just peeled it back and stuck it down, but if you can't find that paper just glue the cut-out mini statues onto the left hand side of the invite. leave a little space at the bottom for the base of the statue, which you'll just cut a square out of black paper.
five] I also had some tiny glitter alphabet letters, so I stuck those on the title to make the "Oscar Party" really pop out.
six] i also mailed a piece of paper {the ballot card} with the 2012 nominations for my guests to review before coming over. when they arrive for the oscars, i will have the actual ballot card that they will need to fill out, but this just helps for preparation and to keep things exciting and fair.
seven] and then mailed them away in a gold envelope!

.Game Night.

On thursday night, husband and I had the pleasure of each others company, a hockey game and the best pizza in the city.
I just have to share my love for Tony's Pizza Palace. This place serves the best pizza in the city.
Hands Down.
It's a place that is perfect for families. It has that small town restaurant feel with dark walls, dim lighting and  {lets go with....} "classic" decor. Kinda a dive, but then again, not really. However, the pizza is to die for.
The Classic New York is as close to the real thing as you can get. And trust me, I have eaten many a slice of authentic new york pizza pie during my cruise ship working days in actual New York. And this pizza is very close. Thin crust, a spicy sauce, and the perfect amount of cheese.....sigh. Can you tell its my favorite?
I also tried it Pete's way: folded in half and eaten like a sandwich. And this fork and knife girl thought it was pretty darn tasty that way......
So you need to go there. Trust me.
Then the hockey game. Amazing seats, our favorite team {Go OIL!!!} won, and we even ran into a couple friends of ours.
We shared a few laughs, a few drinks, and celebrated a probably-never-see-again 8-point performance from Sam Gagne!
What a night. It was perfect.

.1 Year = Fancy Napkin's Birthday.

Well, my dear friends. Today is a biggie.
It's my little blog here's birthday!
She's 1 year old today, and I feel like a parent watching their little baby grow into something beautiful.
So.......
Happy {first} Birthday Fancy Napkin!
If someone asked me what this little blog of mine means to me, I don't think I could put it into words. Sounds silly, right. A blog?
But the truth is {without exaggerating} that blogging has completely changed my life. Not in momentous ways, but in the ways that I feel about myself. And how I live my life. I am incredibly thankful to have found such an amazing way to express and challenge myself, both creatively and mentally.
In some way, this blog has given me a piece of happiness that I didn't even know I was missing.
After I got married to my adorable man, I just found myself waiting for the next big thing. I wasn't ready for children, I was in a job that I didn't enjoy, and I was just feeling bored.
Then after reading my many daily blogs, a random thought popped in my head.
'Why not start your own?'
So I did, and Fancy Napkin was born.
{you can check out my first welcome post here}
I didn't know what I was going to write about. I didn't really have any game plan. I just knew that there was this creative energy bursting in me which I needed to find a way to express.
I wanted this universe that was completely my own. A place where I could share a thought, a craft, an outfit, a recipe, or even just a happy event. A diary of sorts. And Fancy Napkin did just that.

It's truly my little piece of happiness each day. I look forward to sharing posts with you, and yes, some days the inspiration just isn't there, and it's those days that I just won't write. But for the most part, I am bursting with different ideas that I can't wait to get out there.
Blogging is always on my mind. From learning to take better pictures, to trying out different things which I wouldn't normally do. All because I really just want to share my experience with you.
It has helped me grow to be the person I am today.
It's opened up doors that I never thought possible, with some very exciting projects in the works, and that's just the beginning. I feel just so darn lucky sometimes and I can attribute that all to this blog.
I also feel like the last few months have just really begun to kick into high gear. I'm making new friends from all over the world, and can't wait to the day when I actually get to meet some of you. It might sound funny, but I look forward to hearing from a certain few each week and it's relationships like that, that I wouldn't have without Fancy Napkin.
 I am just a small little piece in the blogging world and even a year ago today never thought I'd even reach 200 followers, but know that this experience has changed me for the better. I am happier and more content them I have ever been, and some days I think that I may have found my little creative place in the World.
So THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for reading, listening, and sharing in my world. With comments of encouragement, love and just being present, I so appreciate it.
You have brought me joy beyond words.
